Fishborne Overview
Fishborne is a B-tier Uncommon race with swim speed and water combat bonuses. Inspired by the Fish-Man race from One Piece, Fishborne transforms water from an obstacle into an advantage. While the bonuses are situational on land, Fishborne becomes a force to be reckoned with in any aquatic environment. For players who spend significant time on sea events, water-based combat, or simply want faster island-to-island travel, Fishborne is a solid choice.
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Rarity | Uncommon (22% per spin) |
| Tier | B |
| V1 Bonus | +50% Swim Speed |
| V2 Bonus | Water combat enhancements |
V1 Abilities
Passive: Enhanced Swim Speed
- Effect: +50% swim speed
- Description: You swim 50% faster than other races. This affects all swimming movement, including:
- Swimming between islands (no boat required for short distances)
- Escaping into water during PvP
- Reaching underwater areas and caves
- Participating in sea events
Practical Impact of +50% Swim Speed
- Short water crossings (island to island) take 6 seconds instead of 12
- You can outswim most NPCs and players who chase you into water
- Underwater caves and hidden areas become accessible without a boat
- Sea events are easier to reach quickly
Passive: Water Breathing
- Effect: You can hold your breath underwater for 3x longer than other races
- Description: Normal races can stay underwater for approximately 30 seconds before taking drowning damage. Fishborne can stay underwater for 90 seconds. This is essential for:
- Exploring underwater caves with complex layouts
- Fighting underwater bosses without surfacing for air
- Hiding from PvP pursuers in deep water
V2 Abilities
Fishborne V2 requires completing the "Ocean's Calling" quest on the Second Sea. This involves defeating the Fish-Man King boss in the underwater palace and paying 120,000 Beli.
Enhanced Passive: Ocean's Speed
- Effect: Swim speed increases to +75% (up from +50%), and you gain +10% movement speed while standing in water
- Description: The swim speed bonus gets even better, and you now move faster on land when standing in water (puddles, shallow water, rain zones). This makes you faster than Beastborne players when fighting near shorelines.
New Passive: Water Combat Mastery
- Effect: +20% damage while in water, +15% damage reduction while in water
- Description: When you are standing in water (waist-deep or deeper), you deal 20% more damage with all attacks and take 15% less damage from all sources. This bonus makes Fishborne a genuine threat in aquatic environments - a Fishborne player in water is stronger than a D. Clan player on land in terms of raw damage output.
Water Sources for Combat Bonus
- Natural ocean water (always available near coastlines)
- Lakes and rivers on islands
- Water zones created by Ice fruit (counts as water for Fishborne)
- Water trails from Ocean Wave V2 (Fish-Man Karate)
- Rain weather effects (standing in rain activates the bonus)
New Passive: Aquatic Regeneration
- Effect: HP regeneration is 50% faster while in water
- Description: Your health regenerates at 1.5x the normal rate while submerged or standing in water. This provides sustain during long sea events and makes you nearly unkillable in water-based boss fights.
Synergy Analysis
Best Synergies
Fish-Man Karate + Fishman Trident + Fishborne
This is the aquatic build. Fish-Man Karate already deals +30% damage in water. Combined with Fishborne V2's +20% damage in water, you deal +50% total damage while standing in water. Add the Fishman Trident's water damage bonus and you have the highest possible damage multiplier in the game - but only in water.
Damage calculation in water:
- Base damage x 1.30 (Fish-Man Karate bonus) x 1.20 (Fishborne V2 bonus) x 1.15 (Fishman Trident bonus) = Base x 1.79
That is nearly double damage in water. The catch is that most PvP fights happen on land.
Ice Fruit + Any Fighting Style + Fishborne
Ice fruit creates water zones when ice melts. Fishborne can fight in these zones with the water combat bonus. This combo lets you bring the water advantage to land-based fights.
Magma Fruit + Any Fighting Style + Fishborne
A farming build that uses Fishborne's swim speed to quickly travel between islands. The faster travel translates to more farming cycles per hour.
Decent Synergies
Buddha Fruit + Black Leg + Fishborne
Buddha's tankiness combined with Fishborne's water regeneration makes you nearly unkillable in water. Swim into the ocean during a boss fight to heal, then return to combat.
Venom Fruit + Black Leg + Fishborne
Venom can zone the shoreline while Fishborne provides escape options via water. If the fight goes badly, dive into the ocean where most opponents cannot chase effectively.
Weak Synergies
Dragon Fruit + Dragon Claw + Fishborne
Dragon's flight makes swimming irrelevant. The water combat bonus is wasted on a fruit that fights from the air.
Leopard Fruit + Electro + Fishborne
Leopard's speed on land is more valuable than Fishborne's speed in water. Beastborne is a better fit for Leopard in every scenario.
When to Pick Fishborne
Pick Fishborne when:
- You are running Fish-Man Karate - the water damage bonus creates the strongest possible aquatic build
- You spend a lot of time on sea events - the swim speed and water breathing are genuinely useful
- You want a unique playstyle - fighting from water is a different experience that most players do not expect
- You are in the early game and need travel speed - before you have fast travel options, swim speed saves real time
Do not pick Fishborne when:
- You primarily fight on land - the bonuses are inactive most of the time
- You have D. Clan or Beastborne available - both provide bonuses that work everywhere, not just in water
- You are running an aerial build (Dragon, Skyborne) - the water bonuses conflict with aerial play
Fishborne in Sea Events
Sea events are where Fishborne truly shines:
| Sea Event | Fishborne Advantage |
|---|---|
| Sea King | Can dive underwater to avoid tail swipe, faster repositioning |
| Ghost Ship | Swim between ship segments quickly, water regen sustains through damage |
| Marine Fleet | Dive under ships to ambush, escape via water if overwhelmed |
If you plan to farm sea events regularly, Fishborne is the best race for the job. The combination of fast swimming, water breathing, and water combat bonuses makes you significantly more effective than other races in these encounters.
