Skyborne Overview
Skyborne is a B-tier Uncommon race with enhanced aerial abilities. Inspired by the Sky Island denizens from One Piece, Skyborne enhances your vertical mobility and aerial combat capabilities. While the bonuses are situational compared to D. Clan's Conquerors Haki or Beastborne's speed, Skyborne shines in specific builds and scenarios where aerial control matters.
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Rarity | Uncommon (20% per spin) |
| Tier | B |
| V1 Bonus | First Skywalk is 50% more powerful |
| V2 Bonus | Enhanced aerial abilities |
V1 Abilities
Passive: Enhanced Skywalk
- Effect: Your first Skywalk (double jump) is 50% more powerful - higher jump height and longer hover time
- Description: Skywalk is unlocked through the Haki quest line and allows you to double-jump in mid-air. With Skyborne V1, the first Skywalk of each air time goes 50% higher and lets you hover for 1.5 seconds instead of the normal 0.8 seconds.
Practical Applications
- Reaching elevated areas: Many quest givers and hidden items are on rooftops or cliff edges. Skyborne reaches these spots easily.
- Escaping ground-level danger: The extended hover time gives you more time to survey the battlefield before landing.
- Aerial combat positioning: Hovering above opponents gives you a vantage point for aimed skills.
Passive: Reduced Fall Damage
- Effect: Fall damage is reduced by 30%
- Description: Taking less damage from falls is a minor but convenient bonus. In a game where you frequently jump between platforms and off elevated terrain, this saves HP over the course of a long session.
V2 Abilities
Skyborne V2 requires completing the "Sky Priest's Trial" quest on the Second Sea. This involves completing a series of aerial platforming challenges and paying 100,000 Beli.
Enhanced Passive: Double Skywalk
- Effect: You gain a second Skywalk (triple jump) and both Skywalks are 30% more powerful
- Description: V2 grants a second mid-air jump, essentially giving you a triple jump. Both Skywalks provide enhanced height and hover time. This dramatically increases your aerial mobility and makes nearly every area in the game accessible without climbing.
Aerial Maneuverability (V2)
- First Skywalk: 30% higher than normal, 1.2 seconds hover
- Second Skywalk: 30% higher than normal from the first Skywalk's apex, 1.0 seconds hover
- Total vertical reach: Approximately 2.5x the height of a normal double jump
New Passive: Aerial Combat Bonus
- Effect: +15% damage while airborne, reduced stamina cost for aerial actions
- Description: All attacks deal 15% more damage while you are in the air (during a Skywalk or falling). This bonus applies to fighting style skills, fruit abilities, and weapon attacks. Additionally, aerial actions (Skywalk, aerial skills) cost 20% less stamina.
This bonus is what makes Skyborne viable for specific builds - if you can consistently attack from the air, the +15% damage is significant.
New Passive: Wind Sense
- Effect: Increased awareness of nearby enemies while airborne
- Description: While in the air, your Observation Haki range increases by 50%. This lets you spot enemies, bosses, and fruit spawns from further away while you are at altitude. It is a minor utility bonus but useful for fruit hunting and boss tracking.
Synergy Analysis
Best Synergies
Dragon Fruit + Dragon Claw + Skyborne
Dragon's flight combined with Skyborne's aerial combat bonus creates a devastating aerial assault build. Every Dragon Breath and Dragon Talon used while flying deals +15% damage. Dragon Claw skills executed mid-air also benefit. This is the build where Skyborne approaches A-tier value.
Leopard Fruit + Electro + Skyborne
An alternative to the Beastborne speed build. Skyborne lets Leopard engage from above with Pounce, dealing +15% damage on aerial hits. The triple jump gives you more angles of approach than ground-based opponents expect.
Decent Synergies
Venom Fruit + Any Fighting Style + Skyborne
Venom Hydra launched from altitude covers a wider area due to the downward angle. The aerial damage bonus applies to Venom skills used mid-air. However, Venom generally prefers staying grounded to manage zones.
Magma Fruit + Any Fighting Style + Skyborne
Magma Rain from altitude has slightly better coverage. The fall damage reduction is nice for repositioning. But Magma does not benefit meaningfully from aerial combat.
Weak Synergies
Buddha Fruit + Skyborne
Buddha transforms into a massive ground-based fighter. Aerial combat is counter to Buddha's playstyle. The Skywalk bonus is barely relevant since Buddha players rarely need to jump.
Dough Fruit + Skyborne
Dough's Sticky Floor is ground-based. Skyborne's aerial bonuses do not enhance Dough's control game. Dough benefits more from Beastborne's speed to close distance after zoning.
When to Pick Skyborne
Pick Skyborne when:
- You are running Dragon fruit - the aerial damage bonus significantly enhances Dragon's flight-based combat
- You prefer aerial gameplay - some players enjoy the hit-and-run from above playstyle
- You frequently hunt for fruit spawns - V2's Wind Sense helps spot spawns from altitude
- You are in the Second Sea - the aerial platforming challenges in the Second Sea are much easier with Skyborne
Do not pick Skyborne when:
- You have D. Clan or Beastborne available - both races provide more universally useful bonuses
- You are running a ground-based build (Buddha, Dough, Venom) - the aerial bonuses are wasted
- You primarily farm NPCs - farming does not benefit from aerial combat
Skyborne vs. Beastborne Comparison
| Category | Skyborne | Beastborne |
|---|---|---|
| Ground speed | Normal | +20-25% |
| Aerial mobility | Excellent (triple jump) | Normal |
| Aerial damage | +15% | Normal |
| Farming speed | Normal | Faster (travel speed) |
| PvP versatility | Situational | Universal |
| Fruit spawn hunting | Better (Wind Sense) | Normal |
Beastborne is the better general-purpose race. Skyborne is the better specialist race for aerial builds. Choose based on your playstyle.
