What is Haki?
Haki is a mysterious power that exists in every living being in Haze Seas. It is one of the most important combat systems in the game, providing defensive, offensive, and utility abilities that scale with your progression. Unlike Devil Fruits, Haki is available to every player — you just need to unlock and upgrade it through quests and Beli.
There are three types of Haki in Haze Seas:
| Haki Type | Primary Use | Unlock Level | Max Version |
|---|---|---|---|
| Observation Haki | Dodge, auto-dodge, future sight | 300 | V3 |
| Armament Haki | Damage boost, defense, internal destruction | 250 | V3 |
| Conquerors Haki | AoE stagger, pressure | D. Clan only | V1 |
Observation Haki (Kenbunshoku no Haki)
Observation Haki enhances your awareness and allows you to dodge attacks automatically. It is the most impactful defensive ability in the game and is essential for both PvE and PvP.
V1 — Basic Observation (Unlock at Level 300)
Quest: Talk to the Observation Haki Trainer on the First Sea. The trainer is located on the hill behind the main town on Starter Island. The quest requires defeating 50 NPCs of level 200+ within a time limit.
Cost: 750,000 Beli
Abilities:
- Press R to toggle Observation Haki on/off
- When active, you gain a faint blue aura around your character
- Enables the auto-dodge mechanic (dodges one attack every 15 seconds)
- Shows enemy positions on the minimap with increased range
- Highlights incoming projectile attacks with a visual indicator
Tips: Unlock this as soon as you hit level 300. The auto-dodge is a game-changer in both PvP and boss fights. Before V1, you rely entirely on manual dash (Q) for defense, which puts you at a significant disadvantage.
V2 — Enhanced Observation (Unlock at Level 750)
Quest: Travel to the Second Sea and find the Advanced Observation Trainer on Sky Island. Complete the trial — dodge 20 consecutive attacks from training dummies without taking damage.
Cost: 3,000,000 Beli
Abilities:
- Auto-dodge cooldown reduced from 15 seconds to 10 seconds
- Auto-dodge now works on multi-hit attacks (previously only blocked the first hit)
- Dodging creates a brief afterimage effect, making it harder for opponents to track you
- Minimap enemy detection range increased by 50%
- You can now see enemy health bars through walls within a limited range
Tips: The 10-second cooldown on auto-dodge makes V2 significantly better for sustained PvP fights. The training trial is challenging — practice dash timing on NPCs before attempting it.
V3 — Future Sight (Unlock at Level 1500)
Quest: Found on a hidden island in the Second Sea. The questline involves defeating a powerful boss NPC and completing a meditation sequence without taking damage for 60 seconds while projectiles are launched at you.
Cost: 10,000,000 Beli
Abilities:
- Auto-dodge cooldown reduced to 7 seconds
- Future Sight: brief visual preview of enemy attack trajectories (0.5 seconds into the future)
- Dodging an attack grants a 10% movement speed buff for 3 seconds
- Immunity to surprise attacks from behind while Observation is active
- Can detect invisible/clear fruit users within range
Tips: Future Sight is the most powerful defensive tool in the game. The 0.5-second preview might sound small, but in PvP it lets you react to attacks before they visually reach you. V3 is worth the steep Beli cost for any serious PvP player.
Armament Haki (Busoshoku no Haki)
Armament Haki hardens your body and attacks, increasing both offense and defense. It is essential for dealing meaningful damage to late-game bosses and countering Logia-type fruit users.
V1 — Basic Armament (Unlock at Level 250)
Quest: Speak to the Armament Haki Trainer in the First Sea, located near the port on the main island. Defeat 30 armored NPCs and survive 5 boss encounters.
Cost: 500,000 Beli
Abilities:
- Press T to activate Armament Haki coating
- Coated attacks deal 15% more damage
- Coated attacks can hit Logia-type fruit users (who are otherwise intangible)
- Reduces incoming damage by 10% while active
- Visual effect: black hardened coating on fists/weapon
- Duration: 30 seconds, Cooldown: 20 seconds
Tips: Armament V1 is critical for fighting Logia users (Magma, Flame, Light, Ice, etc.) in PvP. Without it, your attacks pass right through them. Prioritize unlocking this before Observation Haki if you are struggling with Logia opponents.
V2 — Full Body Armament (Unlock at Level 700)
Quest: Find the Advanced Armament Trainer on the Second Sea. The quest involves breaking 10 iron walls with Armament-enhanced attacks and defeating a boss with only Armament attacks.
Cost: 2,500,000 Beli
Abilities:
- Damage bonus increased from 15% to 25%
- Damage reduction increased from 10% to 20%
- Full-body black coating provides protection against all incoming attacks during activation
- Can now break through enemy blocks and guards
- Coated attacks inflict a brief stun on Logia users
- Duration: 40 seconds, Cooldown: 25 seconds
Tips: The block-breaking ability of V2 is massive in PvP. Many players rely on blocking to survive combos — V2 lets you punch through their guard and continue your pressure. The 25% damage boost also significantly improves your combo damage output.
V3 — Internal Destruction (Unlock at Level 1500)
Quest: Located on a remote island in the Second Sea. The questline requires you to damage a training dummy from the inside using Ryuo (advanced Armament), complete a series of precision strikes, and defeat a high-level boss without taking damage.
Cost: 12,000,000 Beli
Abilities:
- Damage bonus increased to 35%
- Internal Destruction: attacks bypass external defenses entirely, dealing damage directly to the target's HP regardless of their defense buffs or Logia intangibility
- Emission: can release Armament energy as a short-range shockwave that pushes enemies back
- Coated attacks deal 50% increased damage to blocking opponents
- Duration: 45 seconds, Cooldown: 30 seconds
Tips: Internal Destruction is the ultimate offensive Haki. Bypassing all defenses means no amount of tankiness can save your opponent. Combined with a high-damage fruit like Dragon or Dough, V3 Armament creates the most lethal combination in the game. The Emission shockwave is also useful for spacing in PvP.
Conquerors Haki (Haoshoku no Haki)
Conquerors Haki is the rarest Haki type, available exclusively to D. Clan race players. It projects your willpower to stagger and overwhelm opponents.
Unlock
Conquerors Haki is automatically unlocked when you select the D. Clan race (3% chance on race spin). No additional quest is required — it is a racial passive.
If you are not D. Clan: You cannot obtain Conquerors Haki. You must reroll your race until you get D. Clan (3% probability per spin).
Abilities
- Press T (while Observation/Armament is inactive) to release a Conquerors Haki burst
- Creates a large AoE shockwave that staggers all enemies within range for 1.5 seconds
- Staggered enemies cannot move, attack, or use skills
- The shockwave has a visual effect of dark lightning expanding from your character
- Cooldown: 25 seconds
- Stagger duration is reduced against higher-level opponents (0.5 seconds if the opponent is 500+ levels above you)
- In PvE, Conquerors Haki can clear groups of low-level NPCs instantly
Tips: Conquerors Haki is the best combo starter in the game. The 1.5-second stagger is long enough to land a full combo on any opponent. Save it for key moments — do not waste it as a poke. Best used when the opponent has burned their dash and cannot escape your follow-up.
Conquerors Haki in PvP
- Use it to interrupt enemy combos — if you see an opponent starting a long combo animation, pop Conquerors to stagger them out of it
- Combine with Dragon Claw or Electro gap closers for guaranteed combo openings
- Opponents with Observation Haki V2+ can predict your Conquerors activation and dash away — bait their dash first, then use Conquerors
- In 1vX situations, Conquerors staggers all nearby opponents simultaneously, giving you breathing room
Conquerors Haki in PvE
- Bosses are immune to the stagger effect, but the shockwave still deals modest damage
- Excellent for clearing groups of NPCs during farming — activate near a cluster and follow up with AoE fruit skills
- The stagger works on most non-boss enemies, making it useful for crowd control during difficult quest encounters
Haki Upgrade Path Summary
| Haki | V1 Level | V1 Cost | V2 Level | V2 Cost | V3 Level | V3 Cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Observation | 300 | 750K | 750 | 3M | 1500 | 10M |

| Conquerors | D. Clan auto | — | — | — | — | — |
Total Beli to fully upgrade both Observation and Armament: ~28,750,000 Beli
Recommended Unlock Order
For most players, the optimal unlock sequence is:
- Armament V1 (Level 250, 500K) — Logia counter is essential
- Observation V1 (Level 300, 750K) — Auto-dodge changes everything
- Armament V2 (Level 700, 2.5M) — Block-breaking for PvP
- Observation V2 (Level 750, 3M) — Reduced cooldown
- Observation V3 (Level 1500, 10M) — Future Sight
- Armament V3 (Level 1500, 12M) — Internal Destruction
If you are primarily a PvE farmer, prioritize Observation over Armament — the auto-dodge helps more against bosses. If you are a PvP player, prioritize Armament V2 (block-breaking) before Observation V2.
Haki Interactions and Counters
Understanding how Haki types interact is crucial for high-level PvP:
| Situation | Counter |
|---|---|
| Opponent has Observation V2+ | Bait their auto-dodge with a feint, then punish during cooldown |
| Opponent has Armament V2+ | Do not rely on blocking — use dash i-frames instead |
| Opponent has Conquerors Haki | Keep your distance and do not let them get within burst range. Watch for the wind-up animation |
| You are fighting a Logia user | Armament Haki is mandatory to deal damage |
| Opponent has Internal Destruction V3 | No defense works — rely on dodging and spacing |
| Opponent has Future Sight V3 | Use unpredictable mix-ups and delayed attacks to confuse their prediction |
Haki and Devil Fruit Synergies
Some fruits benefit more from specific Haki types:
| Fruit | Best Haki | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Dragon | Armament V2+ | Block-breaking lets Dragon confirm combos through guards |
| Dough | Armament V3 | Internal Destruction bypasses counters to Dough's close-range game |
| Leopard | Observation V3 | Future Sight helps with Leopard's hit-and-run timing |
| Venom | Observation V2 | Reduced auto-dodge CD helps survive while setting up zones |
| Buddha | Armament V2 | Full-body coating synergizes with Buddha's tank playstyle |
| Magma | Armament V1 | Logia counter is essential since Magma is also Logia |
