Magma Fruit in Haze Seas - Best Farming Fruit

Complete guide to Magma Devil Fruit - A-tier, farming and bosses with positional pressure.

Magma Fruit Overview

The Magma fruit is A-tier, excellent for farming and boss fights. It is the king of AoE farming, capable of clearing entire NPC camps with just 2-3 skills. While it falls short of S-tier in PvP due to slow projectile speed and predictable zoning, Magma is the first fruit most players should aim for when starting out. Its farming efficiency accelerates your progression and Beli income more than any other fruit at its tier.

Move Set

Skill 1: Magma Punch (Unlocks at Fruit Equip)

  • Damage: 2,200
  • Cooldown: 7 seconds
  • Range: 8 meters (melee cone)
  • Description: A powerful magma-enhanced punch that leaves a small lava pool at the impact point. The lava pool lasts 4 seconds and deals 300 damage per tick to enemies standing in it. This is your basic damage tool and combo starter. The lingering lava pool creates a small zone that discourages opponents from standing where you just punched.

Skill 2: Magma Rain (Unlocks at Fruit Level 25)

  • Damage: 1,000 per meteor (3 meteors) + 400 per lava tick (ticks 3 times per pool)
  • Cooldown: 12 seconds
  • Range: 20 meters (AoE)
  • Description: Launch three magma meteors into the air that rain down on a targeted area. Each meteor creates a lava pool on impact. This is your primary farming tool - three meteors covering a large area with residual lava damage clears NPC camps efficiently. In PvP, Magma Rain is your zoning tool, forcing opponents to move away from the targeted area.

Skill 3: Magma Floor (Unlocks at Fruit Level 50)

  • Damage: 500 initial + 600 per tick (ticks 5 times)
  • Cooldown: 14 seconds
  • Range: 15-meter radius zone
  • Duration: 8 seconds
  • Description: Turn the ground beneath you into a massive lava zone. Enemies take initial damage when the floor activates and continuous damage while standing on it. Magma Floor is your strongest zoning tool - the large radius and long duration make it a persistent threat that reshapes the battlefield. In farming, Magma Floor followed by Magma Rain clears everything.

Skill 4: Volcanic Eruption (Unlocks at Fruit Level 75)

  • Damage: 3,800 (eruption) + 1,000 (lava wave)
  • Cooldown: 18 seconds
  • Range: 10 meters (directed cone)
  • Description: Create a volcanic eruption that shoots magma forward in a cone, followed by a lava wave that spreads across the ground. This is your burst damage tool and your strongest single cast. The eruption hits hard and the lava wave covers the escape routes, making it difficult for opponents to avoid all the damage. Use Volcanic Eruption as a combo finisher or a zoning tool in PvP.

Why Magma for Farming

  • High AoE damage melts NPC groups - Magma Rain + Magma Floor kills 10-15 NPCs in a single rotation. No other A-tier fruit comes close to this clear speed.
  • Positional pressure zones control areas - Lava pools persist after your skills, meaning NPCs that spawn into the area take damage automatically.
  • Great for boss fights with sustained damage - Magma Floor under a boss deals continuous damage while you focus on dodging their attacks. The sustained damage adds up faster than most burst combos.
  • Low skill floor - Point and cast. No complex combos required for effective farming.
  • Logia type provides passive dodge - As a Logia fruit, Magma automatically dodges a percentage of non-Haki attacks, adding survivability.

Combo Routes

PvE Farming Rotation

  1. Run into the center of an NPC camp
  2. Magma Floor (zone covers the entire camp)
  3. Magma Rain (adds three more lava zones)
  4. Magma Punch any survivors
  5. Move to next camp (previous camp's lava pools finish off stragglers)
  6. This rotation clears 12-20 NPCs per cycle

Boss Burst Rotation

  1. Magma Floor under the boss (sustained damage while you maneuver)
  2. Volcanic Eruption (burst damage)
  3. Magma Rain on the boss (additional burst + lava pools)
  4. Magma Punch (filler damage while cooldowns recover)
  5. This rotation deals ~12,000 - 15,000 damage per cycle

PvP Zone Control Combo

  1. Magma Floor (establish your zone)
  2. Magma Rain on the zone edge (expand your control area)
  3. Wait for the opponent to navigate around your zones
  4. Volcanic Eruption in their path (they are funneled by existing zones)
  5. Magma Punch if they get close
  6. Expected damage: ~8,000 - 12,000 (depending on how much lava they walk through)

PvP Burst Combo (Close Range)

  1. Magma Punch (stagger) > M1 x3 > Volcanic Eruption (burst + lava wave) > Magma Rain (follow-up zone)
  2. Expected damage: ~9,000 - 12,000
  3. Only attempt this against opponents who cannot easily escape (slowed, stunned, or cornered)

Matchups

Favorable Matchups

  • Buddha - Buddha's slow movement cannot escape Magma Floor. Zone them and watch them burn.
  • Fish-Man Karate users - Fish-Man Karate is melee and must enter your lava zones to attack. Every approach costs them HP.
  • Snow - Snow's freeze is shorter range than your zones. Out-zone them and they have no way to close distance.

Even Matchups

  • Flame - Mirror matchup. Both fruits want to zone, but Magma's zones are larger and last longer. Flame is faster but does less sustained damage.
  • Venom - Both are zone fruits. Magma zones are larger but Venom's poison ticks faster. The one who establishes control first wins.

Unfavorable Matchups

  • Dragon - Dragon can fly above your lava zones and attack from range. Your only option is to predict landings and pre-place Magma Rain.
  • Leopard - Leopard's speed lets them dash through your zones before the lava can deal significant damage. Their hit-and-run pattern exploits your slow projectiles.
  • Darkness - Darkness can pull you out of your own zones, neutralizing your positional advantage.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Best AoE farming fruit at A-tier
  • Lava pools persist after casting, providing passive area denial
  • Strong boss damage through sustained zone damage
  • Logia passive dodge adds survivability
  • Simple to play effectively
  • Accessible - more common than S-tier fruits and affordable from Fruit Dealer
  • Good Beli income due to farming speed

Cons

  • Slow projectiles that are easy to dodge in PvP
  • Predictable zoning pattern - experienced players know how to navigate around lava
  • No mobility skills - you cannot chase or escape effectively
  • Zones can limit your own movement if poorly placed
  • Falls off in late-game PvP where opponents have Observation Haki and fast dashes
  • Outclassed by Dragon and Dough in direct combat

Magma Floor + Volcanic Eruption sustained damage outperforms burst combos on bosses because bosses do not dodge out of lava zones.

Advanced PvP Positioning

Magma in 1v1

Magma struggles in 1v1 against mobile opponents. Your win condition is forcing opponents to navigate through your zones:

  • Always open with Magma Floor - it is your largest zone and stays active for 8 seconds
  • Magma Rain on the opponent's escape path, not on their current position
  • Never Volcanic Eruption first - save it for when they are funneled by existing zones
  • Retreat through your own zones if chased - opponents take damage following you

Magma in Group Fights

Magma is surprisingly effective in group content because zones affect multiple targets:

  • Magma Floor at chokepoints covers the entire team fight area
  • Magma Rain on the cluster of enemies for maximum multi-hit value
  • Volcanic Eruption as a follow-up when enemies are grouped in your zones
  • Logia passive dodge makes you deceptively tanky against non-Haki attacks

Magma Against Meta Builds

Best Pairings

  • Weapon: Enma or Shusui - Enma for boss damage, Shusui for early-game accessibility
  • Fighting Style: Dragon Claw - provides the gap closer and burst damage that Magma lacks
  • Race: Any - Magma works well with every race because its playstyle does not depend on racial bonuses
